ArteActa is a peer-reviewed journal founded in 2018, published bi-annually every Spring and Fall. The publisher of the journal is the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (hereafter referred to as "AMU").
ArteActa Journal is focused on the performing arts and artistic research. The journal comprises three basic content pillars:
Czech is the main language of the Journal. The Journal also publishes contributions in Slovak and English.
ArteActa Journal exclusively provides the public with articles and texts which, at both the formal and content level, meet the usual requirements required of academic texts in the areas of science and research and whose content corresponds with the focus of the periodical. Publication is guided by Code of Ethics of ArteActa Journal. Review pieces are guided by the following rules for the Review Process.
Editors collaborate with the Journal's publisher on the basis of an employment relationship. The obligations of the editors stem from a contract with the publisher, from the rules of the Review Process, from the Code of Ethics of ArteActa Journal, and from the generally- understood and accepted academic rules and norms of editorial work found in peer-reviewed periodicals. The editorial board can, if needed, invite other specialists to collaborate as external editors for the creation of an issue.
As a rule, the publisher of the Journal, usually the rector of the AMU, determines the Editorial Board by a Decree of Appointment. The publisher creates a board of at least 11 members: 5 representatives of AMU (3 being representatives of individual faculties) who, further, are established specialists in the field of performing art and artistic research in the Czech Republic and abroad. The functioning period of the Editorial Board is not time-limited. Membership in the Editorial Board is honorary and voluntary.
The members of the Editorial Board are guided by the Codes of Ethics of ArteActa Journal. The Editorial Board meets when the need arises, usually twice a year. The Editorial Board is authorized to act if there are at least 6 members present. The Editorial Board adopts resolutions by a majority of vote of the members present. Additionally, the Editorial Board may hold its delegations per rollam, if needed, but, in such cases, for the decision to be binding, at least 6 convening members, as well as resolutions requiring the majority vote of the acting members, who take part in the deliberations in a given timeframe (of at least 5 working days) are required. The Editorial Board is convened by the recommendation of the editorial staff or by the majority vote of its members.
The Editorial Board is an advisory organ of the editorial of the Journal. They share in the conception of the Journal, the bettering of its editorial work, and other editorial decision making. Members of the Editorial Board also actively collaborate in the process of contacting potential authors as well as potentially serving as reviewers in the Review Process. The Editorial Board, working together with editors, can suggest changes to the statute of the Journal or other editorial rules and operation.
