The study concerns the rarely reflected on in the Czech context phenomenon of conceptual dance, which developed particularly in the 1990s, and which contributed to the modern increase of theoretical attention turned toward the discourse of the dance arts as well as to the necessity of the revision and re-defining of the notions dance and choreography in general. Accented as well in the study are the central dance dispositifs in the course of the 20th century which this phenomenon foreshadowed, particularly the principles of negation and absence of partial aspects of the traditional dance code. Meanwhile, presented here are theoretical concepts of a number of significant contemporary dance scholars from the German-speaking world, upon which the content of the study relies and further develops.
